Undergraduate Research Groups

I am a founder and director of three undergraduate research groups; one of them at California University of Pennsylvania and the other two at the Universidad Distrital Francisco José de Caldas and Universidad de Antioquia.

Goal
Our principal goal for undergraduate research is to introduce students to a serious mathematical experience and prepare them for graduated school and academic careers in Math disciplines. These groups provide hands-on positive research experiences and mentoring in a supportive setting.

Student Activities
Students will be assigned a faculty mentor to study the necessary background in the theory of Fibonacci numbers and sequences. Other activities include: weekly meetings to work on problems proposed in the Journal The Fibonacci Quarterly, preparation for regional talks and the study of the document markup language Latex.

Cal U Undergraduate

This group was created in October of 2012 . We currently have three students and two faculty members. This group is currently working on three proposed problems from the journal The Fibonacci Quarterly. For more information about this group click here.

ITENU

This group was created during the Fourth International Conference of Algebra, Number Theory, Combinatorics and Applications in Tunja, Colombia, 2010 . We currently have seven students and five faculty members. Students in this group gave a talk at the Jornada Matemáticas Universidad Francisco José de Caldas and submitted a solution to a proposed problem in The Fibonacci Quarterly.
