Gregarina polymorpha in syzygy, taken with the scanning electron microscope.  The upper half (primary trophozoite) consists of the anterior protomerite and posterior deutomerite (although both only represent one cell).  The lower half (the satellite) reveals the protomerite of the satellite embedded in the posterior portion of the deutomerite of the primary trophozoite.  The ridges lengthwise along the bodies are the epicytic folds.  1000x
